Assembly Instructions

Tools Required

To assemble your Premmier Sleeps divan bed, you will need the following tools:

  • Rubber mallet

  • Large flat screwdriver

  • Crosshead screwdriver

  • Pliers

Important Note: We recommend two people for assembly, particularly for divans with drawers or ottoman storage, as these bases can be heavy. Following these instructions carefully will ensure your bed remains durable and comfortable for years to come.

Step 1: Unpacking Your Divan Bed

  1. Carefully remove all packaging materials to avoid damage to the divan base.

  2. Use pliers to remove cardboard protectors and staples safely.

  3. Locate all fixings in the bag attached to the base.

  4. For drawers, cut the fabric straps securing them during transit. Start with the center, then remove the remaining strap to allow smooth drawer operation.

Tip: Please recycle all packaging responsibly.

Step 2: Attaching Legs, Castors, or Glides

Castors or Glides

  1. Turn each half of the divan base upside down.

  2. Clear any debris from pre-drilled holes with a screwdriver.

  3. Gently insert each castor or glide using a rubber mallet. Avoid using a metal hammer.

  4. Once complete, turn the base upright and connect the two halves using U-clips or link bars.

Wooden Legs

  1. Screw in the wooden legs by hand.

  2. Do not over-tighten to avoid damaging the base.

Important: Excessive force is never needed and may cause damage.

Step 3: Joining Two-Part Divan Bases

Option A: Using Linking Bars

  1. Locate the link bars, casters/glides, and headboard bolts (if included).

  2. Position the two base halves together.

  3. Attach one end of the link bar first, then the other, leaving it slightly loose to guide the open end over the screw.

  4. Hand-tighten both ends. Repeat for the other side.

Option B: Using U-Clips

  1. Align the two base halves carefully.

  2. Insert the U-clips where the flat edges meet.

  3. Tap gently with a rubber mallet to secure firmly.

Step 4: Attaching the Headboard

  1. Place the mattress on the base.

  2. Locate the headboard bolts and corresponding positions on the base. You may need a screwdriver to create pilot holes.

  3. Insert the headboard arms between the base and the plastic washer.

  4. Tighten the bolts securely to hold the headboard in place.

Ottoman Divan Base Instructions

  1. After attaching glides/castors, push the two base halves together with no gaps.

  2. Insert clips or short bolts to secure the halves.

  3. Fully open the ottoman lid.

  4. Connect the two lids using the provided bolts.

  5. Attach gas pistons using the screws supplied.

  6. Close the ottoman. The first few uses may feel stiff, which is normal. Opening and closing a few times will ease operation.

  7. Place the mattress on top while the lid is closed.

Caring for Your Premmier Sleeps Mattress

Initial Settling

Your mattress contains generous layers of filling for ultimate comfort. Slight hollows may appear initially – this is normal and will even out with use.

Do not bend, fold, or roll the mattress as it may damage the spring system and invalidate your warranty.

Handling

  • Pocket-sprung mattresses are heavy; seek assistance when rotating.

  • Do not jump or stand on the mattress – this can damage both the mattress and bed.

  • Rolling or bending may affect the stability of the mattress edge.

Protection

  • Use a breathable mattress protector to maintain freshness and prevent condensation.

  • Avoid plastic sheets or covers that block airflow.

  • Airing the mattress regularly prolongs its life and prevents odors.

Rotating and Turning

  • Sprung mattresses: Rotate head-to-foot weekly for the first three months, then monthly.

  • Pillow-top mattresses: Turn only the top layer.

  • Non-turn mattresses: Rotate 180° once a month.

  • Seasonal mattresses: Rotate 180° each season.

Dimensions

Mattresses are designed slightly shorter than the divan base to allow for headboard thickness and linen. Any compression during transport is normal and does not affect the mattress size.

Cleaning

  • Use a soft brush to remove dust and lint.

  • Avoid vacuum cleaners.

  • For spills, blot gently with a dry cloth or paper towel.

  • Mild sponging with water and soap is acceptable.

Choosing the Correct Base

Pocket-sprung mattresses are designed to contour to the body and base. Ensure your base is sound and suitable:

  • Slatted bases must have gaps no greater than 75mm; otherwise, use a solid baseboard.

  • Old or weakened bases may reduce mattress lifespan.
